The Minister of Interior, Federal and Reconciliation of Somalia, Ahmed Macallin Fiqi, was today visited by UNHCR officials led by Mr. Charles Leonard Mballa, the representative of the International Refugee Organization in Somalia.
The meeting which was also attended by the Chairman of the National Refugee and Displaced Persons Agency Mrs. Safiyo Hassan Mohamed and Mr. Abdiqani Mohamed Weheliye who is the Director of the General Directorate of Resettlement Services and Statistics of Civil Situations discussed the situation of refugees, Immigrants, IDPs, related laws and how to find solutions.
Head of the UNHCR office in Somalia Mr. Charles informed Minister Fiqi about their plans and activities in the coming period, especially dealing with the situation of refugees, returnees and IDPs, stressing their commitment to work closely with the Ministry of Interior of Somalia and Its agency NCRI.
Finally, the Minister of Interior, Federal and Reconciliation of the XFS, Mr. Ahmed Macallin Fiqi, spoke about how his Ministry gives special importance to the advocacy of the situation of refugees and how it succeeded in obtaining an effective law. The Ministry’s view on dealing with the Somali refugees returning to their country and the IDPs, he commended that they are making every effort to find a solution to the problems of the refugees, those returning and the IDPs.
